PORTLAND, MI (WILX) - After a winter of flooding and ice jams that caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to Portland, Michigan, the state will not be helping.
Portland City Manager Tutt Gorman tells News 10 the state denied disaster relief funds for the city and Ionia County.
They had requested a little more than $100,000 to help with the more than $200,000 of damage.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency in February in Portland.
Gorman says Portland is disappointed.
"The City is clearly disappointed with the decision and will take the necessary steps to request reconsideration and advocate accordingly."
